Iznik plate

$ 485.00

İznik pottery, named after the town in western Anatolia where it was made, is a decorated ceramic that was produced from the last quarter of the 15th century until the end of the 17th century.
Our example shown here is made c. 1580 & 1600

Note the signature carnations and tulips painted in the decorations.  These are indicative of the period.  The mark on the bottom is difficult to see under the brace.  The brace is contemporary to the piece and therefor is likely as old and the plate itself.

note rim chip from very old plate brace
